Working Hard to Represent Cherokee Voters

On mornings like today, when I arrive at the Capitol between 6 and 6:30 in the morning, I am amazed at the fact that there are some legislators who have arrived before me. Quite often I recognize the vehicles of others from Cherokee County, like Representatives Charlice Byrd and Sean Jerguson as well as Senator Rogers.

While there are many at the Capitol who do not take their job seriously, ones who do not even bother to attend sessions at any hour, read and study the bills or take the time to vote, there are others who are dedicated to doing the best job possible. I am proud to know that many of these hard working Legislators are from Cherokee.

While you may not agree with all of the positions of your Legislator takes – and we do not always agree amongst ourselves – please respect the fact that they are doing exactly what you elected them to do; represent you at the Capitol.

With so many the Legislators being called out by the media for missing votes and days off without being excused, you will rarely find one of your Cherokee delegation missing in action. While there is always some reason or another, like a committee meeting, to miss a vote, they are few and far between.

In today’s world where so many want to lay off blame and responsibility to someone else, I find it refreshing to be able to work with a delegation of  dedicated individuals who put their duty above self in order to serve you.
